Financial Assistance

Fellowships & Scaled Fees

Please don’t let financial issues prevent you from attending a program at the Monastery. If you can’t afford the program fee, there are options:

1. Hemera Fellowships – These fellowships are available to professionals with a passion for service. The aim is to help make the unique benefits of a contemplative sitting practice in a retreat context more accessible to those wishing to bring a contemplative approach to their working lives.  Find out if you qualify for funding to attend a retreat or do a period of residency at the Monastery. Click here to learn more about the Hemera Foundation’s Fellowship Program. (For the remainder of 2023, Hemera Fellowships are available to anyone in need of financial assistance.)

2. Scholarships – Scholarships are open to anyone based upon need and are intended to help cover retreat costs. Email registrar@dharma.net to access a scholarship for a specific program.

3. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Fund – In acknowledgement of the historical and systemic discrimination in our society, funds are available to members of groups who have suffered discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, physical ability or socio-economic class. These funds are to cover travel costs to and from retreats, and to provide stipends for residents. Stipends of up to $1000/month are available to defray lost income and cover expenses during a month or longer period of residency. Reimbursement for travel costs are available for up to $500. Please click here to apply.

Please register for a retreat before applying for financial assistance so that your place in the retreat is reserved.
