Fundraising Goal Achieved!

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a nice summer and have been enjoying the Autumn changes.  The fund raising committee wanted to let you know that, with a recent generous donation, we have reached our goal of raising $1.2 million for the Jizo Project. This is so wonderful and heartening, to see such a generous show of support that is making this vision a reality. We received so many gifts, of all sizes, that will enable us to move ahead with our plan. Should you still wish to make a donation, you may visit the Jizo Project webpage (see the link at the bottom of this newsletter).  All donations above our $1.2 million fundraising goal will go toward important “Stage 2” accessibility initiatives.

Brief Project Updates:  As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, the repair of our septic leach field is scheduled to take place in early November. We’re moving ahead with plans to begin work in the main building in December. This will include the installation of a lift and renovation of the guest bedroom, making that room, its adjoining bathroom and the zendo accessible for someone in a wheelchair. In early spring, we’ll demolish the old Jizo House and begin work on our new, accessible building.

We will continue to keep you informed as the projects move forward and invite you to check in with us if you have questions about their progress.

In deep gratitude,
