Conscious Femininity: An Archetypal Journey for Women
with Sil Reynolds and Jody Hojin Kimmel, Sensei
May 13 - July 15, 2021
Open to those who self-identify as women.
“There is no sense talking about ‘being true to yourself’ until you are sure what voice you are being true to. It takes hard work to differentiate the voices of the unconscious.”—Marion Woodman
In February, Sil Reynolds and Hojin Sensei led a rich, enlivening retreat for women on the topic of Mother, Mothering, & Mothers beginning with the perspective from the Buddhist tradition of readings from the Therigatha: Enlightened Women’s Poems. In those inspired utterances the women speak quite frankly about their deep grief in losing children, husbands, parents, being raped and held back, and finding a way through their suffering to the Dharma and freedom.
Sil then presented another perspective about conscious mothering and femininity through the lens of a Jungian approach introducing the archetypes. Now Sil and Hojin are back by popular demand! Please join us for this series of three sessions to take an incredible journey into learning about and experiencing feminine archetypes and archetypical energy as a way to enter our uprise in consciousness and healing. As Marion would say: Live your own life and not the one projected on you.
The three retreat sessions are best when taken as a sequence, see note below*
Session One, May 13: The Maiden and Mother archetypes. Session Two, June 17: The Pregnant Virgin archetype (woman whole unto herself). Session Three, July 15: The Crone archetype (a woman who is venerated for experience and wisdom).
Sil will teach the power of bringing these archetypal energies to consciousness and how, by doing so, we can allow ourselves to be guided towards physical, psychological and spiritual wholeness and release. After all, isn’t this what practice is about?
Optional art, journaling, reading and meditation assignments will be given between sessions to continue the exploration.
Thursdays May 13, June 17, July 15, 10am-noon (optional zazen 9:30am)
*This kind of gathering is best as a three session sequence that builds on information and develops intimacy. Commitment to the series serves everyone best. If a session is missed it will not be recorded to preserve the context and confidentiality of the moment. We hope you will be able to join us!
Donations are appreciated at this time.
