Zen Brush and Ink

with Katie Yosha Scott-Childress

January 20, 2024

Program is fully booked

In Zen training, we devote much of our practice to seated meditation–zazen. In this workshop we will work with the one-pointed concentration developed in zazen by picking up a brush and further channeling and expressing our focused energy with ink onto paper.

From stillness to movement we can explore ways to use the brush and ink to deepen our zen practice and sharpen our concentration, transforming difficult feeling states into healing offerings and allowing our exuberance to burst through.

The workshop will include short periods of seated meditation. No prior experience is required, and all supplies will be provided. We will conclude with a creative audience, a guided practice and favorite teaching method of MRO founder John Daido Loori that develops our intuitive way of looking at art.
