Raising Voice Workshop

with Robert Een

May 18, 2019

Raising Voice is an invitation to explore the wide ranging qualities of the voice – singing, chanting, speaking – as they directly relate to meditation and engaged mindfulness. Vocalizing provides a powerful practice for being in the moment.

The voice is a deeply personal expression of who we are. One’s voice, in connection with the breath, the resonating body, the listening ears and the thinking mind, is a window onto the physical, the emotional—indeed the spiritual—self. Yet until one shares it in the world—by RAISING one’s voice—it remains hidden. Only through this daring can one truly begin to understand both the power and intimacy of the voice.

Raising Voice is about the creative process as a reflection of spiritual practice. Concentration, presence of mind, awareness of breath, and dealing with mental distractions are required for both meditation and vocalizing. Through guided exercises employing our expressive voice we investigate this junction of creativity and mindfulness practice.

All levels of experience are welcome.

We strive to keep our retreat prices low and offer these programs on a sliding scale. It’s important that the dharma is available to everyone. Thank you for your continued support.

No deposit is necessary to register. You can pay the full balance at the door by cash, check or credit card.
