Dear Fire Lotus Sangha,
Greetings from State Street! We hope that you and your loved ones are well and enjoying this summer season.
We’re happy to share with you some of the details of our reopening for weekday zazen (seated meditation) and our regular Sunday program.
We are now offering in-person weekday zazen for fully-vaccinated individuals who have had beginning instruction with the Mountains and Rivers Order (MRO). Zazen will take place in the Buddha Hall (where there is better ventilation than in the first-floor zendo) on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings (6:30pm – 8:00pm), as well as on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings (6:30am – 8:00am).
Because space is limited to 20 people at a time, we ask that everyone pre-register through this Calendly link for weekday zazen. Spaces will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
We are also resuming our weekly Sunday morning program at the Zen Center of NYC for up to 30 fully-vaccinated people, also in the Buddha Hall. To attend the Sunday morning program, visit this Calendly page and click on the date to pre-register. Spaces will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Finally, our weekly Sunday program is now open to newcomers and experienced practitioners alike. If you have not had beginning instruction in zazen with the MRO, just use this link to register for our 8:30am orientation session (in addition to your registration for the Sunday morning program).
On Sundays, we’ll open our doors at 9:00am for informal sitting. The program proper will begin at 9:30am with a liturgy chanting service, zazen, walking meditation (kinhin) and a talk by a teacher or senior student. The program will conclude around 12:30pm with light refreshments. (We ask that participants stay for the entire length of the program.)
Please note: If you need to cancel for any reason, we would appreciate it if you could notify us. This will allow us to offer a space for someone else to attend.
If you have not been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and would like to participate in Temple activities, please contact the Temple office at 718-875-8229 or email@example.com and ask for Yunen.
If you have any questions, we welcome you call us at the Temple office at 718-875-8229.
You can also email us at firstname.lastname@example.org .
All good wishes,
Hojin Sensei and the ZCNYC Advisory Council:
