Video Conferences

Where teachers & students connect across space & time

In 2016, we launched a video conference series open to formal students and practicing members. Each month at least one of the teachers in the Order offers a conversation topic and those students who have pre-registered join that teacher at an appointed time using the Zoom web conference platform. Participation is free and on a first come, first served basis, as we try to limit the sessions to less than 30 people. The limit on participants helps create a (virtual) environment where everyone gets the chance to speak and contribute to the conversation if they wish.

The series was designed for those who are unable to attend Monastery or Zen Center programs as often as they’d like due to geography or other life circumstances. For the teachers, it is an opportunity to connect with students near and far who they may never have met or who they see rarely. And for the participants, the series presents an opportunity to engage with a dharma teacher on a subject of interest, perhaps exploring this kind of study in a way that previously felt limited to them.

If you would like to offer dana for these teachings, you can make a donation during the registration process. However, if you are unable to offer something, please don’t let that deter you from participating.

Installments in the video conference series are posted on this page with regular updates. If you see a session you would like to participate in, please register below by clicking the link next to each individual session you would like to sign up for. Register at least 3 days before the mondo to insure that you will receive the link and any other pertinent information in time for the session. The web link will be live starting 30 minutes before the start of the session in order for participants to make sure their connection us working properly.

All you’ll need to participate is a relatively stable Internet connection and a computer or mobile device with a camera and microphone. You will not need a Zoom account though, when joining a conference for the first time, you will be prompted to download an app that will act as an interface on your device. The Monastery will not be able to offer any technical assistance at the time of the session.
